Behind the Scenes: REIN – a Built Use Case of New Working Worlds

The Architectural Concept of the New Trade Fair Stand in Hall A1

The new world of work – also referred to as new work – means turning away from outdated and rigid working methods. In the course of these changes the concept of workplaces is also detached from the rigid office concept with fixed workplaces and dreary meeting rooms: New work stands for flexibility, openness and interaction. The architectural concept of the Real Estate Innovation Network stand (REIN), designed by sbp, reflects this new working world. You can already go for a virtual walk through the various sectors of the REIN stand.

Focus on Cooperation

The stand focuses on various aspects of cooperation: From informal ad-hoc meetings around bar tables, brief presentations or confidential meetings to bigger brainstorming or arena situations – cooperation varies depending on the subject and the project phase and always needs different rooms. Sensible communication need not necessarily take place in a formal setting, but may just as well happen over a cup of coffee.

Startup Alley

The colored bar tables in the "Startup Alley" are contact points for the visitors of the startups: Standing at the "startup islands"encourages the participants to move around, so that discussions are more lively than they would be with everyone sitting around a conference table. With its special light effects the café and bar area creates a homely and cosy atmosphere and supports informal communication.

Kollaboration braucht einen Raum für die Präsentation eigener Ideen und gleichzeitig die Möglichkeit zu unkomplizierter und offener Interaktion. Dies wird hier durch verstellbare Collaboration needs space for the presentation of ideas and at the same time the possibility to interact casually and openly. This is facilitated by adaptable furniture with maximum flexibility for arranging them. Wooden rows of seats arranged like an arena as well as cosy lounge chairs and sofas create a casual atmosphere and offer a perfect view of the stage, where a varied and nop-notch conference and event program with leadership panels and startup pitches is waiting for the trade fair participants.

Startup Battlefield

There is a separate meeting area near the battlefield, which is emphasized by high-quality wooden framing. This is meant for confidential talks which should take place in more private surroundings.

The sponsors' area, marked INFO, shows a well-arranged mixture of homely elements and materials like natural wooden surfaces and plants. At the same time the grid structure and the use of black create a modern working atmosphere. This area illustrates how the specific use of different colors and material structures, e.g. for flooring, can divide even open plan offices up ino several zones. Spaces are shaped and movements are guided throughout the room.
