It’s not only the exhibition space that has expanded at EXPO REAL this year. So has the conference program’s range of events. For the first time, events will be taking place on ten stages. A first glimpse at the program provides valuable insights.
There are some real innovations in the expanded conference program. And packing them all into the trade fair required a few changes. For example, the EXPO REAL Forum 2019, which has been a feature of the fair since the first event in 1997, is moving into Hall C2, bringing it closer to Grand Plaza, where events are dedicated to the retail industry and its real estate. The Investment Locations Forum is returning from Conference Room B11 to Hall A1, where the Discussion & Networking Forum is still located. Next door in Hall A2, we’ve got the Planning & Partnerships Forum. Among this forum’s many highlights, we’re once again hosting the long-established Hospitality Industry Dialogue, which focuses on topics related to hotel real estate and investments.
Hall A3 – rebranded as NOVA³ for this year’s EXPO REAL – has been added for the very first time. The focus of NOVA³ is innovation. Understandably, the Real Estate Innovation Forum, which is dedicated to every aspect of digital transformation, is moving from Hall A1 to Hall A3. It has even been expanded to include the Tech Talk Zone offshoot. In addition, we’re also launching the new NOVA³ Forum here as an additional discussion platform. This year’s Career Day is taking place on the third day of the fair in Conference Room B11 above Hall B1, and the Intelligent Urbanization Forum is staying put in Hall C1.
A wide range of engaging topics
Around 40,000 participants will be flocking to this year’s EXPO REAL to explore every aspect of real estate and investments. In response to this huge interest, the trade fair offers an equally extensive range of topics. Even with all our experience, it is never easy to predict which topics will attract the most visitors. In the Investment Locations Forum (Hall A1), the International View of Germany event on Monday, October 7 at 11 a.m. looks like it will attract large numbers of visitors, as does The Asian Century: Real Estate Capital Cross-Flows Asia-Pacific / Europe block on Tuesday, October 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Then, at 2 p.m., Malta, an under-the-radar investment location, is presenting itself.
Keynote speeches with undisputed industry experts
It’s always the case that internationally renowned industry experts attract a great deal of attention. This will likely be the case at the Investment Locations Forum on Monday at 2 p.m. when the new President of the Kiel-based IfW Institute for the World Economy, Professor Gabriel Felbermayr, will be analyzing the USA in his keynote speech: The USA in a Global Context. His talk will be followed by a Q&A session involving leading industry figures and the public. There will also be a series of keynote speeches at the EXPO REAL Forum in Hall C2, including one from Dr. Ulrich Kater, Chief Economist at DekaBank, who will be talking about Europe and Brexit on Monday at 12:30 p.m. This will be followed by an exciting discussion, which will probably focus more on investment strategies in Europe in general than on the Brexit machinations in the United Kingdom. For many, the UK has not lost its status as an important market.
Starting at 11 a.m. the same day, all attention will be focused on the international panel who will be exploring the question “Who is the city for?” and hopefully coming up with solutions as they discuss “Making Cities Work for All.” “The city” is a recurring theme throughout this year’s EXPO REAL, including the “The Public Sector and the Real Estate Industry: Cooperation instead of Confrontation!” event on Monday at 2 p.m.; “How Dense are We? The Opportunities and Challenges of Urban Densification” on Tuesday at 3 p.m.; and on Wednesday from 10 – 11.50 a.m. at the “The Impact of Urbanization, E-commerce and New Mobility” panel, which includes a keynote speech on the topic of New Mobility from Peter Glus of Arcadis U.S.
