Cycling for a good cause: Four questions about EXPOBIKE to Thomas Meyer

Enjoy cycling and want to support a worthy cause? Great! Then look no further for your next bike ride than EXPOBIKE 2016. From the starting point in Paris on September 27, 2016, newcomers and experienced riders alike will travel to their shared destination: Munich on October 2, 2016. ImmoSport e.V., a German property industry initiative, is behind the project. We caught up with Wertgrund Immobilien AG’s Director Thomas Meyer to ask him a few questions about his involvement in EXPOBIKE.

Surely your diary is always booked up with appointments. Why did you choose to take time out of this busy schedule to participate in EXPOBIKE 2014 and 2015?

The EXPOBIKE tour offers the perfect opportunity to mix sporting activity with professional networking. Plus, it is a unique chance to discover new places on your bike that you would certainly never visit otherwise.

During EXPOBIKE you spend several days in the saddle alongside other faces from the property sector. What do you feel makes EXPOBIKE special?

The most special part for me is the moment that you cross the finish line in Munich after six days of cycling together as a group. Exhausted, but happy!

This year the proceeds will go to the “Off Road Kids e.V.” institute. As well as doing some good for this great cause, the event also offers a fantastic networking opportunity. Have you made any interesting contacts so far?

As well as interesting business contacts, I’ve also made some new friends with whom I cycle outside of EXPOBIKE and enter cycle races.

Last but not least, hand on heart–in what place did you finish last year?

Well, the good thing is that EXPOBIKE is not a race, so there are no places. Of course, there are various “road sign sprints,” but I was only able to come out on top in one of them!
